Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for trauma recovery, but it is often described as a double-edged sword. For many, it helps rebuild a sense of safety and presence, for others, it can inadvertently poke at a trauma, causing distress if not approached carefully.
It is therefore important to understand safeguarding approaches and develop strategies that we can use when we feel overwhelmed.
Through short videos lessons, audio and reflective practice, you'll explore the concepts of trauma informed mindfulness and healing practices.
By the end of this course you will
- Understand what we constitute as trauma for this training
- Explore how mindfulness can be helpful and circumstances where it can be unhelpful
- Become familiar with Dr Daniel Siegel’s Window of Tolerance model and how this relates to mindfulness practice
- Learn how to support yourself and practice mindfulness safely
- Enjoy a lovely inscaping meditation
- Listen to the language of your body with some trauma informed healing practices for you to try out.
This course offers evidence-based, accessible tools so that you can enjoy mindfulness safely.
